Whistler Welding Services Ltd. was proud to contribute to the major upgrade and transformation of the existing Solar Coaster Chair infrastructure into the newly expanded Blackcomb Gondola Barn at Whistler Blackcomb.

This project involved the removal and redevelopment of the previous Solar Coaster Chair system, converting the existing structure into an extended gondola maintenance and operations facility designed to support the upgraded Blackcomb Gondola system.

Our scope of work included the fabrication, reinforcement, modification, and installation of structural steel components required to support the expanded barn structure while ensuring long-term stability, safety, and operational performance in a demanding alpine environment.

In addition to the structural steel scope, Whistler Welding designed, fabricated, and installed new stair systems and access points throughout the facility to improve functionality, accessibility, and worker safety. We also completed the fabrication and installation of custom steel decking systems integrated throughout the upgraded structure.

Working within an active mountain operations environment required detailed coordination, scheduling, and precision execution to meet project timelines and operational requirements. The completed project now serves as a critical component of Whistler Blackcomb’s upgraded lift infrastructure and guest operations.
